Space F, a company specializing in cellular agriculture technology, was selected as the best company in the startup category at the
'2023 Excellent Venture Selection Project' organized by the Korea Venture Business Association.
The Excellent Venture Selection Project is a program that supports the promotion and sustainable growth of venture companies that have achieved excellent performance or have advanced technology and growth potential. A total of 98 companies were selected as excellent companies in the fields of sustainable growth, jobs, global, R&D, startups, work-life balance, and regional excellent ventures. SPACE F was selected as the best company among several excellent ventures in the startup category.
The cellular agriculture industry has been recently gaining attention as a solution to the food shortage problem due to environmental pollution and population growth. Cultivated meat is emerging as an alternative to conventional meat consumption as it can be produced as an edible protein by culturing muscle and fat stem cells in vitro without slaughtering livestock.
Through research on mass culture optimization, a key technology for cultivated meat production, SPACE F has decreased the cell culture period and increased the cell culture yield at the same time, and has obtained patents and original technologies such as muscle stem cell isolation, culture, and development of serum-free culture medium.
