Space F 'COEX Food Week Innovative Food Award' Food Tech Excellence Award

Space F (CEO Kim Byeong-hoon) announced on the 17th that it received the Excellence Award in the Food Tech category at the 1st COEX Food Week Innovation Awards.

Space F was recognized for its technology related to cultured meat at COEX Food Week 2022, the largest general food exhibition in Korea, and was awarded this way.

Space F introduced cultured pork sausage, an alternative animal protein food, at this event. It is characterized by the direct use of pig muscle stem cells without genetic recombination or cell immortalization. Using an animal scaffold capable of attaching cells, it was organized similarly to the body to obtain cultured meat and produced an emulsified sausage based on it.

Space F researchers said, “We expect to become a world-leading cultured meat company through differentiation of pig embryonic stem cells and serum-free media, and based on this, we will be able to build a foundation for food security and enhance national competitiveness.”

COEX Food Week was held at COEX from the 2nd to the 5th along with the 2022 Korea Food Tech Industry Exhibition. The purpose of the innovative food award is to promote the development of the Korean food industry by discovering and awarding innovative and innovative domestic products to participating companies, and by granting various benefits in the future. Excellent products were selected in three categories: food tech, environment, society, governance (ESG), and global. The evaluation was conducted by experts in the food industry, including academia, distribution, and media. Product features, marketability, public interest, future value, etc. were comprehensively evaluated based on screening criteria such as product development motivation and novelty, use of domestic raw materials, contribution to national health, distribution market competitiveness, consumer preference, and price competitiveness.
