Space F, a company researching cellular agriculture technology, and the Korean Society of Cellular Agriculture (KSCA) jointly announced on the 6th that they hosted an international symposium.

The the Korean Society of Cellular Agriculture (KSCA), with Seoul National University Prof. Cheorun Jo serving as its second president, was established in 2022 to promote academic exchange and close cooperation among academia, industry, and government agencies in the field of cellular agriculture. The 3rd International Symposium, jointly organized by KSCA, SpaceF, Seoul National University's BK21 Agricultural and Life Science Education Research Group, Seoul National University's Livestock Science and Technology Research Institute, and Seoul National University's Food Bio-convergence Research Institute, was held on the 2nd at Seoul National University with the participation of companies related to cellular agriculture.

The symposium covered various topics including discussing trends and policies in cellular agriculture industries of major countries, exchanging knowledge and information, sharing achievements in developing and industrializing cellular agriculture technologies, and discussing technologies and policies to ensure the safety of cellular agriculture products for consumers. It also addressed broadening the range of choices for consumers of future food materials and establishing cooperative relationships with the livestock industry.

The keynote speeches were delivered by Dr. Andrew Stout from Tufts University in the United States and Tobias Mesmer from Mosa Meat in the Netherlands, who spoke on the topics of strategies for reducing production costs through cell-line and media development and up-scaled cultivation, respectively. Mario Chin, co-founder of Avant Meat in Hong Kong, presented on cultivated fish bio-process.

A representative of the Korean Society of Cellular Agriculture stated, "This symposium provided an opportunity for meaningful discussions on food ingredient recognition and industrialization in Korea, while regulations for cultivated meat are being quickly approved globally." They also stated, "We'll keep working to bring experts from industry, academia, and government together to lead the way in cellular agriculture."

A Space F representative commented, "This symposium was a great opportunity for academic exchange and cooperation between academia, research, industry, and government agencies in stem cell and livestock food technology." They added, "Space F will work on new technologies to become a lead company in cultivated meat industry."
